All about the baby nest

A baby nest can be seen as a kind of basket where your child can be placed for a nap. They're very soft and you can also take them with you on the go, for example. If you're going on vacation or visiting family or friends, your child can nap in it. Babies often find it very comforting because it feels safe and secure. As a parent, it's also nice to have your hands free and still have your child close by.

Until what age do you use a baby nest?

Some parents like to use the baby nest for extended periods. They often find it so adorable when their child is sleeping in it. The advantage is that you can use the nest for your little one from birth. However, it's recommended to stop using it when your child is old enough to roll over independently. This is often around six months, but some parents use it until their child is about eight months old. Pay close attention to your child's development and make a wise choice.

It's understandable that if your baby has been snug in a baby nest for all those months, you'll want to gradually phase it out. You'll know when your little one outgrows it, and then you can switch to other alternatives.

Why use a baby nest?

A baby nest is really meant for your baby to rest in for a while. A short nap is also allowed, of course. You shouldn't use a baby nest to help your baby sleep through the night. Using the nest does keep your baby close, so you have your hands free for a while and your little one can get the rest they need. You do need to be able to keep a close eye on your baby when you're placing them in the nest.

Washing the baby nest

Sometimes it's necessary to wash a baby nest. You can often keep them clean yourself, partly because they often have a replaceable cover. If you order an extra cover, you can use the other one while one is in the wash. It's also possible that the entire baby nest is machine washable, but be sure to read the label on the nest carefully. Nests can often be washed at 30 degrees Celsius and not tumble dried. However, because this can vary, you should check the specific nest to see what's possible, so your little one can enjoy it for a long time.
